Welcome to the Extended Range Diving Services website. My name is Jon and I own and operate ExRDS. Home base is eastern North Carolina and from there I travel far and wide to serve the needs of my clients.
The goal at ExRDS is to offer top notch, student-focused dive instruction, for all skill levels. We believe in small class sizes that emphasize safety and personal development. 25 years of experience teaching and working full time as a dive professional has given me a good feel for how students best learn to dive. Instruction is my passion. My students accomplishment and confidence are my priority. When we train together we will be partners in the journey of your evolution as a diver and extend your range of proficiency and experience.
I have a diverse diving background. These include deep and shallow dives in the Great Lakes, St Lawrence River, Florida Keys, the East and West coasts of the US and around the world. I hold or have held multiple instructor ratings, from open water instructor to technical instructor trainer, through agencies such as SDI/TDI, PADI, NAUI, SSI and HSA. I have worked for multiple diving retail facilities across the US for the better part of 23 years. This has yielded extensive experience servicing compressed gas cylinders and most major brands of scuba gear, while the retail aspect cultivated a well-rounded view of the customers needs and desires.
As an organization, Extended Range is focused on enhancing the diving community by training competent divers, and traveling around the globe to gain experience and enrichment. ExRDS's genesis stems from a passion for the sport and interest in positive changes to the philosophies within the industry. Extended Range Diving Services offers a full range of SCUBA courses from Open Water Diver to Technical Instructor. I offer an intimate training environment as well as individualized courses that meet everyone's scheduling needs. ExRDS offers courses world wide and I am willing to travel to you, or with you, if a private course is desired. In addition to training, I offer domestic and foreign travel, as well as personalized dive guide services and commercial safety diving options.
